The GenV WG45 HyperGate45 External Wastegate is a Motorsport-proven, cost-effective 45mm external wastegate – The highest flowing gate of its kind. The GenV provides extensive user configuration, world-leading extended thermal performance, fatigue resistance and best-in-class flow performance for optimum control and longevity. The GenV External Wastegate from Turbosmart was a ground-up rework of a classic, and the only feature that rolled over from the Gen4 range was the mounting orientation. CFD optimized and validated in-house for maximum flow and thermal management; the GenV Range has more features, options and performance than any other gate.

Turbosmart new wastegates are a direct fit upgrade to all 4th-generation Turbosmart wastegates and feature our unique collar-locking system, variable actuator cap and base, strap-type V-band clamps, liquid-cooling, 1/8? NPT ports, and are provided with a range of springs. They are also available in Motorsport and compressed gas-only versions for those requiring specific applications.

Modular

The 5th series wastegate range has been designed for maximum user-adjustability, without compromising performance. We designed our new unit to allow actuators to be interchangeable across the range. So, if you need a large wastegate in a tight space you can run a smaller actuator on the larger body. Additionally, if you decide to upgrade your new wastegate to a Motorsport or compressed gas-only actuator you can with an upgrade kit.

Adjustability

The unique variable adjustment design allows the wastegate actuator base to be oriented independently from the weld flanges. The cap is also completely independent and indexable in 12 different positions compared to the actuator base and body. This allows the wastegate to be fitted in confined positions without compromising packaging for fittings or aligning the cap.

Upgrades and Servicing

Due to the modular construction, the new range is also upgradeable and completely serviceable, as all components can be removed or upgraded. Components have been tested for over one million cycles so reliability will be rock-solid.

Flow and Thermal Performance

Our new range of wastegates out-flow all competitors thanks to our world-leading engineering and simulation abilities. Thermal performance has been improved drastically compared to our nearest rival, and all wastegates feature liquid cooling ports for further thermal performance if required

Control

For fine-tuning, boost performance, a selection of springs will be supplied with each wastegate. All wastegates feature 1/8? NPT ports for maximum response and flow while maintaining a high level of compatibility for fittings.

Features:

Modular interchangeable actuators

Independently orientated actuator base

New strap type V band clamps

Increased thermal and flow performance

A diaphragm design that offers linear travel; regardless of spring, pressure and valve positioning, while improving response.

Integrated water cooling ports (if required)

Popular FAQ's

What is the first rule of boost control?
Ensure you have an over-boost cut-out. This safety feature is built into all factory, aftermarket & programmable ECUs. Make sure it is set at a sensible & reasonable limit. Increasing the boost will put more load on your engine, and there is another tune-related factory you must always consider. If in any doubt, speak with a professional tuner/calibrator.

Can I use this on any turbocharged engine?
External Wastegates are used on vehicles fitted with turbochargers that do not have an internal wastegate actuator. External wastegates in most instances are a custom fitted item and require modifications to the factory exhaust manifold, or a custom / specifically manufactured manifold to suit an external wastegate.

What is a GenV Wastegate?
A GenV Wastegate is a 5th Generation External Wastegate from Turbosmart. Turbosmart released the GenV range at the SEMA Show in 2017 and used several features never before seen on a wastegate including rotating actuator housing, ceramic isolators, multi-angle machined valve seats and interchangeable actuator housings.

Do I have to use the liquid cooling ports?
No. The GenV External Wastegate boasts a number of design features which means it can tolerate higher temperatures for longer than it’s peers. The liquid cooling is simply there in case you wish to use it, or are one of the very few who need to.

Why Does the Actuator housing Rotate?
So you can route your reference hoses any way you like. The GenV external wastegate range is designed with an infinitely clock-able actuator housing so that the shortest, most convenient, and most suitable (temperature, etc.) route can be setup for the reference lines.

How do I change the springs?
You will need the locking collar tool supplied in the box and you will also need to apply physical force down on the top cap of the actuator. Applying force counteracts the preload applied with these are assembled in the diaphragm and is a design feature of the product. Attempting to unlock the collar without this force is likely to damage the collar and potentially the actuator.

What size are the reference ports?
1/8NPT. Both the liquid cooling and the boost control reference ports are 1/8NPT. The GenV External Wastegates are delivered with a full hose tail and blanking fitting kit which will get you going, however you’re welcome to use adaptors for AN or push lock fittings for more advanced installs.

This is ‘X’ psi, but I want to run a different amount of boost than that – Which gate should I get?
The pressure rating in the description of a GenV external wastegate is the base mechanical pressure and we including all other springs in the box. You have base mechanical spring options from 3psi up to 26psi. Note however this is just the lowest the gate can be setup for and with manipulation of the reference signal via a boost controller, you can generally achieve 2-3X the base pressure.
