The Suncoast 10R80 CDF Triple Drum (JL3Z-7H351-B) features Ford’s latest updated anti-walk design, engineered to correct a known weakness in earlier 10R80 CDF drum assemblies. This new-design drum replaces the previous HL3Z-7H351-A and JL3Z-7H351-A part numbers and is the preferred solution for preventing bushing movement that can lead to clutch feed issues and transmission failure.
Earlier CDF drum designs allowed the internal bushing sleeve to “walk” out of position under load. When this occurred, vital oil passages feeding the clutch packs could become partially blocked, resulting in pressure loss, harsh shifting, slipping, or complete transmission failure. Ford’s revised design adds an integrated retention lip to positively locate the bushing, eliminating the root cause of the issue and restoring long-term reliability.
This updated CDF triple drum is an OEM Ford component commonly used in performance rebuilds, preventative maintenance, and upgraded 10R80 transmission builds.
