During normal engine operation, crankcase vapors containing oil are routed back through the intake tract via the PCV system. This issue is present in all engines but becomes even more pronounced on turbocharged applications like the 2.7L EcoBoost, where increased crankcase pressures create more oil vapor contamination.
The J&L 3.0 Oil Separator is CNC-machined from solid billet aluminum and utilizes a highly effective stainless steel mesh filtration system that captures fine oil particles before they can be reintroduced into the intake stream. How It Works
The internal stainless steel mesh filter captures oil vapors as they pass through the PCV system. Once trapped, the oil condenses and falls into the collection reservoir where it can be drained during routine maintenance. By the time the vapors pass through the filtration media, they are too heavy to continue into the intake system.
Optional Upgrade
This application is compatible with the J&L Reservoir Extension, which increases total fluid capacity from 3 ounces to 6 ounces for extended service intervals.
