Halltech's Stingray dyno testing recorded gains of more than 17 horsepower and 25 torque, although Halltech notes that results have varied. This specific configuration includes the TKO Attack Blue Dry Nano Filter and does not include the optional insulating sleeve.
The Hornet-518 is engineered as a complete intake system rather than simply replacing the stock filter with a larger element. Its oversized filter provides more than 600 square inches of filtration area, while Halltech's molded-in velocity stack and reverse-flow partition are designed to maintain laminar airflow at the MAF sensor. This version of the HRNT.518 comes specifically with Halltech's TKO Attack Blue Dry Nano Filter option. Halltech offers four filter configurations for the Hornet-518, including both dry and oiled choices. The TKO Attack Blue option provides dry nano filter media for C8 owners who want a non-oiled filter while retaining the massive filtration area built into the Hornet-518 intake system.
More Than 600 Square Inches of Filtration
The oversized filter is a major part of the Hornet-518 design, providing more than 600 square inches of filtration area. Halltech combines that substantial filter surface with an engineered airflow path rather than relying on filter size alone. The result is an intake designed to provide the LT2 with increased airflow capacity while maintaining controlled airflow through the MAF section.
Engineered Airflow at the MAF Sensor
Stable MAF airflow is critical on a modern C8, which is why Halltech incorporates a molded-in velocity stack and reverse-flow partition into the Hornet-518. These features are designed to maintain laminar airflow at the MAF sensor, allowing Halltech to offer the HRNT.518 as a performance-oriented cold air intake that does not require ECU tuning.
No NOMEX Sleeve Configuration
This specific HRNT.518 configuration does not include an insulating sleeve. It pairs the complete Hornet-518 intake with the TKO Attack Blue Dry Nano Filter while leaving out the optional sleeve. The intake retains the same Halltech airbox, stainless steel backplate, velocity stack, reverse-flow partition, and application-specific design as the other HRNT.518 configurations.
Coupe and HTC Compatibility
The Hornet-518 is engineered for both Coupe and HTC versions of the C8 Stingray and E-Ray. Halltech specifies that the only modification required for HTC installation is drilling out the top-center rivnut on the access panel. The system otherwise functions as a direct cold air intake replacement while reusing multiple factory intake components and mounting points.
