Redesigned 1400HP Axle and Inner Stub Kit
The DSS 510208 represents a redesigned version of the company's high-horsepower GTO axle package. Rather than simply increasing the strength of one component, DSS combines upgraded axle bars, CV joints, internal CV components, and inner stubs to create a complete system capable of handling substantially greater drivetrain loads than the factory design.
Rated for up to 1,400 horsepower, this package is intended for GTO builds where the factory rear axle components are no longer appropriate for the power and traction available.
Modified 300M Axle Bars
At the center of the DSS 510208 are 1-1/4" outside diameter, 30-spline modified 300M axle bars. DSS uses 300M material manufactured and certified to a higher torsional standard than most conventional 300M material, providing increased strength for demanding high-power applications.
The substantial 1-1/4" outside diameter and 30-spline configuration are engineered to provide the strength required to transfer extreme power through the GTO independent rear suspension.
Rolled Splines for Increased Strength
The 300M axle bars feature rolled splines rather than splines created solely through a conventional cutting process. During the rolling process, the material is compressed as the splines are formed, a process DSS compares to forging.
This manufacturing method is used to maintain strength in the spline area, an especially important consideration in an axle designed for high-horsepower drag racing and other demanding performance applications.
Thicker Porsche-Style 108mm CV Joints
The redesigned axle kit incorporates thicker Porsche-style 108mm CV joints. These larger, heavy-duty CV assemblies provide a substantial upgrade from the factory GTO axle design and are engineered around the increased loads generated by high-horsepower combinations.
The 108mm CV configuration is paired with upgraded internal components to create a complete CV assembly designed for the demands of the 1,400HP axle package.
Full 4340 CV Cages
DSS equips the 108mm CV joints with full 4340 cages rather than using components that are simply described as Chromoly. The full 4340 internal cage construction contributes to the increased strength of the redesigned CV assemblies and helps differentiate the 510208 from the factory axle configuration.
300M 108mm Bolt-On Inner Stubs
The DSS 510208 includes 300M 108mm bolt-on inner stubs as part of the complete axle package. Pairing the upgraded inner stubs with the modified 300M axle bars and 108mm CV assemblies creates a complete high-strength solution rather than upgrading the axle bars alone.
Proven in 8-Second GTO Applications
