Upgrade the drivetrain in your 2015-2017 Ford Mustang EcoBoost automatic with the Driveshaft Shop 3.5" Aluminum 1-Piece Direct Fit CV Driveshaft. Designed as a performance-focused replacement for the factory soft rubber-mounted driveshaft, the DSS 610274 combines lightweight aluminum construction with solid connections, a precision-ground direct-fit rear CV, Chromoly internals, and a Spicer 1350 U-joint to efficiently transfer power to the ground.
Previously offered under part number FDSH62-A, this updated DSS design eliminates the separate adapter plate at the rear differential. Instead, the precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange similar to the factory driveshaft. Eliminating the adapter plate reduces unnecessary weight while increasing power-holding capability and improving drivetrain response. Rated to handle more than 1,000 horsepower, this 1-piece driveshaft provides substantial capacity for high-performance EcoBoost Mustang builds.
Direct-Fit Rear CV Design
The Driveshaft Shop developed the 610274 with a direct-fit rear CV that eliminates the separate adapter plate at the rear differential. The precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange in a configuration similar to the factory driveshaft.
Removing the adapter plate eliminates unnecessary weight from the connection while creating a more direct driveline arrangement. DSS designed this configuration to increase power-holding capability, improve drivetrain response, and provide proper alignment.
3.5" Aluminum 1-Piece Construction
The DSS 610274 uses a 3.5" diameter aluminum shaft to replace the factory driveshaft with a performance-oriented 1-piece configuration. The aluminum construction provides a strong foundation for modified EcoBoost Mustang applications while eliminating the soft rubber-mounted characteristics of the factory shaft.
Solid connections throughout the upgraded driveshaft provide a more direct mechanical link through the drivetrain, helping deliver engine output to the rear wheels with improved response.
1,000+ Horsepower Capability
The Driveshaft Shop designed the 610274 to handle more than 1,000 horsepower. This substantial power capacity provides room for highly modified EcoBoost applications, including builds producing significantly more power than the factory drivetrain was originally designed to support.
The 3.5" aluminum shaft, direct-fit CV, Chromoly internal components, and Spicer 1350 U-joint combine to create a driveline upgrade engineered for serious performance applications.
Chromoly CV Internals
The precision-ground rear CV utilizes Chromoly internal components to provide the strength required for demanding high-output applications. This upgraded construction contributes to the driveshaft's ability to reliably transfer substantially increased power through the Mustang drivetrain.
Spicer 1350 U-Joint
DSS pairs the direct-fit CV with a Spicer 1350 U-joint, providing a heavy-duty mechanical connection for high-performance use. The CV and U-joint combination is engineered to provide the strength, solid connections, and alignment required to efficiently transfer power from the automatic transmission to the rear differential.
Improved Drivetrain Response
The factory Mustang driveshaft uses soft rubber-mounted components that introduce compliance into the drivetrain. The DSS 1-piece driveshaft replaces that arrangement with solid connections designed to provide a more direct mechanical link between the transmission and rear differential.
Combined with the elimination of the separate rear adapter plate, the direct-fit CV and 1-piece aluminum shaft are designed to improve drivetrain response while maintaining proper alignment.
Required Rear Subframe / Cradle Lock-Out Kit
WARNING: A rear subframe/cradle lock-out kit MUST be installed on the vehicle BEFORE installing the Driveshaft Shop 1-piece driveshaft.
The rear cradle must be properly reinforced and its movement limited before driveshaft installation. Any damage to the driveshaft, or any subsequent damage caused by failing to properly reinforce the rear cradle and limit movement, will void any and all warranty provided by The Driveshaft Shop.
This is a mandatory installation requirement and should not be considered an optional supporting modification.
Emergency Brake Cable Clearance
IMPORTANT: Emergency brake cable bracket clearance must be checked during installation. Clearance adjustment or relocation of the emergency brake cable bracket may be necessary.
Failure to verify and provide adequate clearance may allow the emergency brake cable bracket to contact and damage the driveshaft. Failure to check this clearance may damage the driveshaft and void the warranty.
