Previously offered under part number FDSH55-C, the latest DSS design eliminates the separate adapter plate at the rear differential. A high-speed precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange similar to the factory driveshaft, eliminating unnecessary adapter weight while increasing power-holding capability and improving drivetrain response. Combined with a 3.25" carbon fiber shaft, 300M Chromoly spline plugs, Chromoly CV internals, and a Spicer 1350 solid U-joint, the 610277 is built to transfer serious power to the ground.
Direct-Fit Rear CV Design
The Driveshaft Shop developed the 610277 around a direct-fit rear CV configuration that eliminates the additional adapter plate previously required at the rear differential. Instead, the precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange in a configuration similar to the factory driveshaft.
Eliminating the adapter plate reduces unnecessary weight while creating a more direct driveline connection. DSS designed this configuration to increase power-holding capability, improve drivetrain response, and maintain proper alignment.
3.25" Carbon Fiber 1-Piece Construction
The 610277 features a 3.25" diameter carbon fiber shaft, providing a lightweight and performance-oriented replacement for the factory driveshaft. The 1-piece configuration replaces the soft rubber-mounted factory shaft with solid connections designed for demanding performance applications.
The carbon fiber tube is combined with billet aluminum endcaps, heavy-duty driveline components, and a forged aluminum U-joint flange to create a complete driveshaft assembly engineered for high-horsepower S550 Mustangs.
Built for the MT82 6-Speed Manual
This driveshaft is designed specifically for 2015-2017 Ford S550 Mustang GT models equipped with the MT82 manual transmission. Its application-specific configuration provides the connections and dimensions necessary to replace the factory driveshaft in the supported 6-speed manual drivetrain.

The Driveshaft Shop rates the 610277 for more than 1,000 horsepower, providing substantial capacity for modified Coyote-powered Mustang GT applications. This makes the driveshaft suitable for everything from bolt-on street cars to extensively modified naturally aspirated, supercharged, or turbocharged combinations.
The carbon fiber shaft, 300M Chromoly spline plugs, Chromoly CV internals, Spicer 1350 solid U-joint, and forged aluminum flange work together to provide the strength required for serious power levels.
300M Chromoly Spline Plugs
DSS equips the driveshaft with 300M Chromoly spline plugs for increased strength in critical areas of the driveline. These heavy-duty components are designed to withstand the increased loads generated by high-horsepower and hard-use Mustang applications.
High-Speed Precision-Ground CV Joint
The rear of the driveshaft utilizes a high-speed precision-ground CV joint with Chromoly internal components. In addition to providing the direct-fit connection at the pinion flange, the CV joint provides twice the operating range of the previous DSS design.
This increased range provides additional articulation capability while retaining the strength and precise connection required for demanding performance use.
Spicer 1350 Solid U-Joint
The DSS 610277 incorporates a Spicer 1350 series solid U-joint paired with a forged aluminum U-joint flange. This heavy-duty combination provides a robust mechanical connection designed to handle substantially increased drivetrain loads.
Combined with the Chromoly CV internals and 300M spline plugs, the Spicer 1350 solid U-joint contributes to the driveshaft's 1,000+ horsepower capability.
Billet Aluminum Endcaps
Billet aluminum endcaps are incorporated into the carbon fiber driveshaft assembly. These components complement the 3.25" carbon fiber tube and form part of the complete performance-oriented driveline package.
Improved Drivetrain Response
The factory Mustang driveshaft uses soft rubber-mounted components designed in part around factory-level isolation. The DSS 1-piece driveshaft replaces that configuration with solid connections designed to create a more direct mechanical connection between the transmission and rear differential.
The lightweight carbon fiber construction, direct-fit rear CV, solid driveline connections, and elimination of the separate rear adapter plate work together to improve drivetrain response while maintaining proper alignment.
Required Rear Subframe / Cradle Lock-Out Kit
WARNING: A rear subframe/cradle lock-out kit MUST be installed on the vehicle BEFORE installing the Driveshaft Shop 1-piece driveshaft.
The rear cradle must be properly reinforced and its movement limited before driveshaft installation. Any damage to the driveshaft, or any subsequent damage caused by failing to properly reinforce the rear cradle and limit movement, will void any and all warranty provided by The Driveshaft Shop.
This is a mandatory installation requirement and should not be considered an optional supporting modification.
Emergency Brake Cable Clearance
IMPORTANT: Emergency brake cable bracket clearance must be checked during installation. Clearance adjustment or relocation of the emergency brake cable bracket may be necessary.
Failure to verify adequate clearance may allow the emergency brake cable bracket to contact and damage the driveshaft. Failure to check and provide the necessary clearance may damage the driveshaft and void the warranty.
