Upgrade the drivetrain in your 2018-2026 Ford Mustang GT 6-speed manual with the Driveshaft Shop 3.25" Carbon Fiber 1-Piece Direct Fit CV Driveshaft. Designed as a serious performance replacement for the factory soft rubber-mounted driveshaft, the DSS 610300 combines lightweight carbon fiber construction with solid connections, a precision-ground direct-fit rear CV, 300M Chromoly components, and a Spicer 1350 solid U-joint. Rated for more than 1,000 horsepower, this driveshaft is engineered to support everything from modified street cars to extreme high-horsepower Mustang builds.
Previously offered under part number FDSH53-C, the updated DSS design eliminates the separate adapter plate at the rear differential. Instead, the precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange similar to the factory driveshaft. Eliminating the adapter plate reduces unnecessary weight while increasing power-holding capability and improving drivetrain response.
Direct-Fit Rear CV Design
The Driveshaft Shop developed the 610300 with a direct-fit rear CV that eliminates the need for a separate adapter plate at the rear differential. The precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange in a configuration similar to the factory driveshaft.
Removing the adapter plate eliminates unnecessary weight from the driveline while creating a more direct connection to the rear differential. DSS engineered this configuration to increase power-holding capability, improve drivetrain response, and provide proper alignment.
3.25" Carbon Fiber 1-Piece Construction
The DSS 610300 features a 3.25" diameter carbon fiber shaft designed to replace the factory driveshaft with a performance-oriented 1-piece configuration. The carbon fiber shaft is combined with billet aluminum endcaps and heavy-duty driveline components to create a complete assembly engineered for demanding Mustang applications.
Replacing the factory soft rubber-mounted driveshaft with a 1-piece design and solid connections provides a more direct mechanical connection through the drivetrain, making the 610300 an excellent upgrade for performance-focused manual Mustang GT builds.
Built for 6-Speed Manual Mustang GT Applications
The 610300 is designed specifically for supported 2018-2026 Ford Mustang GT V8 models equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. Its application-specific configuration provides the connections required to replace the factory driveshaft while retaining the supported Mustang GT drivetrain arrangement.
This driveshaft will not fit Dark Horse models. Dark Horse applications require a different Driveshaft Shop driveshaft and should not use the 610300.
1,000+ Horsepower Rating
The Driveshaft Shop rates the 610300 for more than 1,000 horsepower, providing substantial power-handling capacity for modified Coyote-powered Mustang GT applications. This makes it suitable for everything from bolt-on combinations to heavily modified naturally aspirated, supercharged, or turbocharged builds.
The 3.25" carbon fiber shaft, 300M Chromoly spline plugs, Chromoly CV internals, Spicer 1350 solid U-joint, and forged aluminum flange work together to provide the strength required to transfer serious power to the ground.
300M Chromoly Spline Plugs
DSS equips the 610300 with 300M Chromoly spline plugs for increased strength in critical areas of the driveshaft assembly. These high-strength components are designed to withstand the additional drivetrain loads associated with high-output and hard-use Mustang applications.
High-Speed Precision-Ground CV Joint
The rear of the driveshaft utilizes a high-speed precision-ground CV joint with Chromoly internal components. In addition to providing the direct-fit connection inside the pinion flange, this CV joint offers twice the operating range of the previous DSS design.
The increased range provides additional articulation capability while maintaining the strength and precision required for demanding performance use.
Spicer 1350 Solid U-Joint
The DSS 610300 incorporates a Spicer 1350 series solid U-joint paired with a forged aluminum U-joint flange. This heavy-duty combination provides a robust mechanical connection designed to handle substantially increased drivetrain loads.
Combined with the 300M Chromoly spline plugs and Chromoly CV internals, the Spicer 1350 solid U-joint contributes to the driveshaft's 1,000+ horsepower rating.
Billet Aluminum Endcaps
Billet aluminum endcaps are incorporated into the carbon fiber driveshaft assembly, complementing the 3.25" carbon fiber tube and heavy-duty driveline components. The result is a purpose-built 1-piece driveshaft designed around strength, performance, and reduced unnecessary weight.
Improved Drivetrain Response
The factory Mustang driveshaft utilizes soft rubber-mounted components that introduce compliance into the driveline. The DSS 1-piece driveshaft replaces that arrangement with solid connections designed to create a more direct mechanical link between the transmission and rear differential.
The carbon fiber construction, direct-fit rear CV, solid connections, and elimination of the separate rear adapter plate work together to improve drivetrain response while maintaining proper alignment.
Required Rear Subframe / Cradle Lock-Out Kit
WARNING: A rear subframe/cradle lock-out kit MUST be installed on the vehicle BEFORE installing the Driveshaft Shop 1-piece driveshaft.
The rear cradle must be properly reinforced and its movement limited before driveshaft installation. Any damage to the driveshaft, or any subsequent damage caused by failing to properly reinforce the rear cradle and limit movement, will void any and all warranty provided by The Driveshaft Shop.
This is a mandatory installation requirement and should not be considered an optional supporting modification.
Emergency Brake Cable Clearance
IMPORTANT: Emergency brake cable bracket clearance must be checked during installation. Clearance adjustment or relocation of the emergency brake cable bracket may be necessary.
Failure to verify and provide adequate clearance may allow the emergency brake cable bracket to contact and damage the driveshaft. Failure to check this clearance may damage the driveshaft and void the warranty.
