DSE Rear Tubular Sway Bar Kit (042201DS) - 1964 - 1972 GM A-Body

Put more control into your classic A-Body when the road starts to twist with the DSE Rear Tubular Sway Bar Kit 042201DS. Engineered for 1964-1972 GM A-Body applications, this bolt-on system takes a different approach than the factory-style rear sway bar. Instead of mounting between the lower control arms, Detroit Speed attaches the sway bar to the rear axle housing and chassis, allowing the chassis to stabilize the rear axle and helping minimize deflection when the car is subjected to heavy cornering loads.

Detroit Speed builds the 042201DS sway bar from 1-1/8-inch 520 DOM tubing for strength without resorting to a heavy solid-bar design. Patented Swivel-Link end links allow the bar to articulate freely through the range of rear suspension travel while helping eliminate bind. Two adjustment positions let you tune the rear roll stiffness to the car and driving style, with a 597 pounds per inch rate at the front hole and a firmer 736 pounds per inch rate at the rear hole. The system is finished in black powder coat and comes as a complete bolt-on package with the sway bar, polyurethane bushings, end links, mounting brackets, axle clamps, U-bolts, lock collars, and required mounting hardware.

DSE 042201DS is engineered for 1964-1972 GM A-Body applications. Unlike the factory-style sway bar arrangement that mounts between the lower control arms, the Detroit Speed system attaches to the rear axle housing and chassis. The kit can be installed as a standalone rear sway bar upgrade or used with a compatible Detroit Speed rear suspension system.

FAQs

What makes DSE 042201DS different from a factory-style A-Body rear sway bar?
Instead of mounting between the lower control arms, the Detroit Speed sway bar connects the rear axle housing to the chassis. This allows the chassis to stabilize the rear axle and helps minimize deflection during heavy cornering loads.

Is the DSE 042201DS rear sway bar adjustable?
Yes. The bar has two adjustment positions. Detroit Speed specifies a 597 pounds per inch rate at the front hole and a firmer 736 pounds per inch rate at the rear hole, allowing rear roll stiffness to be tuned for the vehicle and driving setup.

What is included with DSE 042201DS?
The kit includes the tubular rear sway bar, polyurethane sway bar bushings, bushing mounts, grease caps, Swivel-Link end links, left- and right-side mounting brackets, lower axle mounting clamps, U-bolts, split lock collars, and the associated installation hardware.
