DSE SpeedRay Front Suspension Kit - Double Adjustable Shocks - Fabricated Coilover Mounts (1963 - 1982 Chevrolet Corvette - BBC) - 032071-DDS

Transform the handling, steering response, and adjustability of your Big Block C2 or C3 Corvette with the Detroit Speed SpeedRay Front Suspension Kit 032071-DDS. Engineered specifically for 1963-1982 Chevrolet Corvettes with Big Block Chevrolet power, the SpeedRay combines Detroit Speed's exclusive suspension geometry with quick-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering, forged aluminum uprights, tubular control arms, coilover ride-height adjustment, and an integrated splined sway bar. This competition-oriented configuration uses fabricated upper coilover mounts for faster spring changes and double-adjustable DSE/JRi shocks that give serious street and track builds a wide range of suspension tuning capability.

The powder coated cradle assembly improves suspension geometry while creating a rigid mounting structure for the rack and pinion and incorporating integrated tie-down eyelets. DSE/JRi aluminum-body coilover shocks feature Detroit Tuned valving and are paired with 650 lbs/in springs with an 8-inch free length for the Big Block application. Powder coated tubular upper and lower control arms use Delrin bushings, while forged offset upper control arm mounting brackets with caster tuner bushings provide suspension geometry adjustment. Torrington bearings and a spanner tool are also included for spring-height adjustment, and the Corvette's body and engine do not need to be removed for installation.

Fitment Notes

  • This version uses fabricated upper coilover mounts and requires fabrication during installation
  • The upper shock tower must be cut and the fabricated upper coilover mount bracket welded into place
  • The competition-style fabricated coilover mounting arrangement allows faster spring changes
  • For competition applications, the Detroit Speed rack-and-pinion fluid transfer conversion kit can replace the rack hardlines using -4 AN steel fittings
  • The fluid transfer conversion hoses are PTFE lined for the high-pressure demands of the steering system and use pre-crimped stainless steel fittings

FAQs

What shocks are included with DSE 032071-DDS?
Part number 032071-DDS includes double-adjustable DSE/JRi aluminum-body coilover shocks with Detroit Tuned valving. The two independent adjustments provide a wide tuning range for matching suspension behavior to the driver, vehicle setup, and intended use.

What makes 032071-DDS different from the SBC / LS SpeedRay kit?
This version is specifically configured for Big Block Chevrolet applications and uses 650 lbs/in coilover springs. The corresponding fabricated-mount SBC / LS configuration uses a different Detroit Speed part-number series and spring rate.

What is the advantage of the fabricated coilover mounts?
The fabricated upper coilover mount configuration is intended for competition-oriented builds and allows faster spring changes. Installation requires cutting the upper shock tower and welding the upper coilover mount bracket into position.

Can ride height be adjusted with the SpeedRay 032071-DDS?
Yes. The coilover suspension provides ride-height adjustment as well as spring-rate tuning capability. Torrington bearings and a spanner tool are included to make spring-height adjustments easier.

Does the engine or Corvette body need to be removed for installation?
No. Detroit Speed designed the SpeedRay front suspension so the Corvette's body and engine do not need to be removed for installation.
