Detroit Speed Delrin Lower Control Arm Bushings (1967-1969 Camaro / Firebird / 1968-1974 GM X-Body) - 030201DS

Tighten up front suspension response and improve steering feel with the Detroit Speed 030201DS Delrin Lower Control Arm Bushing Kit. Designed for 1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird models along with applicable 1968-1974 GM X-Body applications, these performance bushings replace compliant factory-style lower control arm bushings with a precision CNC-machined assembly engineered to reduce unwanted movement. By controlling bushing deflection more effectively, the Detroit Speed design helps the front suspension respond more consistently to steering inputs and maintain more precise control arm positioning under load.

Each bushing assembly combines a steel outer housing, Delrin bushing, and steel crush tube, with the components CNC machined for accurate fit and consistent operation. Stainless steel grease fittings provide convenient lubrication points to help maintain proper bushing operation. The steel crush tubes receive a zinc electroplate with a yellow chromate finish for corrosion resistance and long-term durability.

The steel outer housing provides an important installation advantage over an aluminum housing. Years of use and normal production variation can leave the original lower control arm bushing bore less than perfect. After the Detroit Speed housing is pressed into position, the steel construction allows it to be tack welded to the lower control arm for a secure, precise, and long-lasting fit. Detroit Speed recommends pressing the bushings into the lower control arms and tack welding them in place.

The 030201DS is an excellent upgrade for enthusiasts who want more precise suspension response while retaining their existing lower control arms. Whether the car is a street-driven first-generation F-Body, a Pro-Touring build, or a performance-oriented GM X-Body, these Detroit Speed Delrin bushings address a critical source of suspension compliance with durable materials and serviceable, greaseable construction.

FAQs

Why use Detroit Speed Delrin lower control arm bushings instead of factory-style rubber bushings?
The Delrin bushings reduce unwanted compliance in the lower control arm mounting points, helping the suspension maintain more consistent geometry and providing more precise steering and handling response.

Do the Detroit Speed 030201DS bushings need to be welded into the control arms?
Detroit Speed recommends pressing the housings into the lower control arms and tack welding them in place. Because the outer housings are steel, they can be tack welded to help provide a precise and durable fit, particularly when age or production variation has affected the original bushing bores.
