Designed specifically for 1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro applications, this stamped aluminum panel conceals the exposed core support, hood latch, and horns that are normally visible when the hood is open. The result is a much cleaner transition across the front of the engine compartment that complements everything from a detailed restoration to a full Pro-Touring build.
Detroit Speed manufactures the 011502DS from stamped aluminum, giving the panel a lightweight, formed construction that integrates neatly with the Camaro's underhood sheet metal. Installation is designed to use existing attachment locations on the vehicle, allowing the closeout to bolt directly into place without turning a cosmetic upgrade into a major fabrication project.
The panel arrives in a natural aluminum finish, giving you the option of leaving it bare for a clean metal appearance or finishing it to match the engine compartment, body, or other underhood components. Because the panel is supplied in its natural as-manufactured condition, Detroit Speed notes that some hammer-form marks may be visible along the edges. These marks are considered normal for the manufacturing process.
The 011502DS is also designed to work with the Detroit Speed Fender Brace Kit P/N 011801DS, making the two components an excellent combination when refining the appearance and structure of a first-generation Camaro engine compartment. Builders retaining the original tubular fender braces will need to modify the closeout panel as required. The stock radiator fan shroud also requires modification to its upper mounting arrangement if it will be retained with the closeout.
