The result is a purpose-built cage that integrates cleanly into the interior instead of unnecessarily consuming valuable cabin space.
The main hoop and removable crossbar are constructed from 1-5/8 inch x 0.134 inch wall mild steel tubing. Detroit Speed pre-notches the tubing to reduce fabrication time and supplies pre-bent rocker panel floor plates along with trunk floor plates designed for the application. Installation requires welding, creating a structural connection to the vehicle while increasing overall chassis strength.
A major advantage of the Detroit Speed design is its removable crossbar with CNC-machined steel clevis connections. The clevis design makes removal of the crossbar easier when access through the interior is needed.
