Reinforce one of the most notorious structural weak points in the Fox Body chassis with the Detroit Speed 010115DS EXO Brace. Designed for 1979-1993 Ford Mustang and 1979-1986 Mercury Capri applications, the EXO Brace strengthens the upper torque box area where the rear suspension upper links mount to the chassis. Factory torque boxes can weaken, crack, tear, or even separate from the vehicle over time, especially as power levels and chassis loads increase. Detroit Speed engineered the EXO Brace to reinforce this critical area before failure becomes a costly chassis repair or creates unpredictable handling.
The 010115DS ties the upper link pockets into the frame and floor pan on both sides of the frame rail, then connects the two torque box structures from side to side with a telescoping brace. This integrated design improves upper torque box rigidity and distributes suspension loads through a larger portion of the chassis rather than allowing those loads to concentrate around the factory upper link mounting points.
Detroit Speed gives builders the flexibility of either bolt-on or weld-in installation. For applications making up to 400 horsepower, Detroit Speed specifies the bolt-on configuration as a solution for preventing upper torque box tearing. For cars producing more than 400 horsepower, Detroit Speed specifies welding the kit into the chassis for additional support. All necessary installation hardware is included with the kit.
The EXO Brace also adds a second upper link adjustment hole designed to help correct the rear suspension instant center on lowered Fox Body cars. Factory upper links work in both mounting positions, allowing the brace to add chassis reinforcement and useful suspension geometry adjustment without requiring replacement upper links.
