Cast Stainless Steel Bellmouths
A key feature of the cp-e® QKspl downpipes is the use of cast stainless steel bellmouths. Rather than relying on a traditional flange and tubing arrangement joined together through conventional welding, cp-e® developed a cast bellmouth structure designed for exceptional durability under the high temperatures and constant vibration experienced in this portion of the Ranger Raptor's exhaust system.
The cast construction also allows the upper O2 sensor bung to be incorporated directly into the bellmouth. This provides carefully controlled sensor placement, an important consideration given the limited space available within the Ranger Raptor's engine bay and exhaust tunnel.
High Flow Catalytic Converters
This version of the QKspl downpipe set incorporates high-flow catalytic converters for customers who want increased exhaust flow while retaining catalytic converters in the downpipe assembly.
cp-e® brazes the catalytic converter to the outer shell sidewall rather than using a conventional stuffed and rolled construction method. This approach is designed to maintain an unrestricted flow path while improving the durability of the catalytic converter assembly. Stamped endcaps further strengthen the assembly while helping provide a smooth exhaust path.
3.00-Inch 16-Gauge Stainless Steel Construction
The downpipes use 3.00-inch tubing CNC-bent from 16-gauge stainless steel and formed as a single piece. The heavier stainless steel construction is designed to withstand the elevated temperatures and vibration found near the turbochargers while providing the flow capacity needed for performance applications.
Precision O2 Sensor Placement
In addition to the upper O2 sensor provision incorporated into the cast bellmouth, the secondary O2 sensor provision is precision CNC-machined in-house. This allows the sensor provision to closely match the tubing for a precise welded connection while maintaining an accessible sensor location.
CNC Laser-Cut Mounting Brackets
Rather than using basic rod or flat sheet metal mounting solutions, cp-e® manufactures dedicated CNC laser-cut brackets in-house. These vehicle-specific components contribute to a more precise and durable installation while supporting the downpipes in their intended position.
In-House Manufacturing and Precise Fitment
All fixturing and welding are completed in-house. Each fixture is computer-designed and positioned using CAD to help maintain consistent geometry and fitment from one downpipe set to the next. This detailed manufacturing process allows cp-e® to tightly control the construction and final fit of the QKspl downpipes.
