VMS Mustang Drag Pack Wheels - S197 S550 Fitment

When it comes to choosing the right set of wheels for your S197 or S550 Mustang, the number of options can be overwhelming. Finding the right size wheel and then matching it to the appropriate tire size is a challenge. Here at Beefcake Racing we know what works, we use the parts we sell and test them thoroughly. In this blog post, we will go over the basic features and fitment specifications needed for fitment of the VMS Racing Drag Pack Wheels.

What is a drag pack? This means a larger front wheel and a shorter but wider rear wheel is used instead of the traditional squared look with all four wheels being the same size. The advantage is improving rear wheel traction, especially if your running an aftermarket supercharger or turbo.

Front and Rear Wheel Combo 

All Mustangs look incredible when equipped with the complete VMS Drag Pack Combo. For the front, an 18x5 wheel is used and fills the wheel well perfectly even with lowering springs. The rear uses a wide 17x10 for increased tire width and more traction. 

The rear tires put all the power to the ground and improve high speed stability. We feel the 17x10 is the right size and provides enough room for a wider tire. For the right tire size, we suggest a 305/45/17 tire for any naturally aspirated or forced induction build. The Mickey Thompson Street S/S or Street R tires are used at our shop due to excellent performance and value.

Fitment Specs

Front 18x5 wheel information:
Designed specifically for the S550 Mustangs to clear front brakes including the GT with the performance package Brembo brakes (will not fit the GT350). This wheel will fit the S197 Mustangs but ONLY with the standard GT brakes, it will not fit with either the 4 or 6 piston Brembo brake packages. Specs 5X114.3 Bolt Pattern (-12 offset)

Rear 17x10 wheel information:
This wheel will fit both the S197 and S550 Mustangs with no issue, no spacers or special brackets. NOTE: WILL NOT FIT THE 2015-2019 GT350 MUSTANG!
Specs: 5X114.3 Bolt Pattern (54 offset)
