CFD-Developed Aerodynamics

APR Performance uses Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis to study airflow around the mirror housing and stalk. This process allows engineers to visualize drag forces, flow separation, and vortex shedding before finalizing the design.

The GT-2 AeroMirror is shaped to reduce aerodynamic resistance and create cleaner airflow around the side of the Mustang, helping minimize the disruptive wake typically created by larger factory mirror housings.

Low-Drag Airfoil Stalk

The mirror stalk uses an airfoil-inspired profile similar in principle to APR Performance aerodynamic wing designs. Its thin cross-section helps reduce the amount of material exposed to airflow while minimizing separation and vortex generation.

The smooth transition between the stalk and mirror housing further reduces interference drag and helps maintain cleaner airflow along the side of the vehicle.

Shrink-to-Profile Mirror Housing

The compact GT-2 housing reduces frontal area compared to a larger factory-style mirror assembly. Sharper aerodynamic edges help improve airflow separation and reduce turbulence while retaining the visibility needed for performance street and track use.

Vortex Control

Rather than allowing uncontrolled turbulent air to form behind the mirror, the GT-2 design intentionally manages the wake and vortex behavior. This helps guide airflow more smoothly along the side of the vehicle and can reduce turbulence around the side windows and A-pillar area.

Lightweight Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber Construction

The GT-2 AeroMirror is manufactured from pre-preg carbon fiber for excellent strength and low weight. Each complete mirror assembly weighs approximately 1 to 1.5 lbs, helping reduce unnecessary mass while maintaining the rigidity required for stable operation at higher speeds.

Adjustable Blue-Tinted Convex Lens

The mirror uses a fully adjustable convex lens to provide a wider viewing area than a conventional flat mirror. A blue anti-glare tint helps reduce distracting reflections and glare while maintaining useful rearward visibility.
