Constructed from proprietary 10K-ton forged 6061-T6 aluminum blanks, the SM-10RS was designed to maximize strength while minimizing weight. Through extensive Finite Element Analysis and independent testing beyond industry standards, Apex optimized every aspect of the wheel to deliver improved steering response, increased stiffness, outstanding brake clearance, and long-term durability under demanding conditions.
10K Tons of Pressure
Every SM-10RS starts life as a massive forged aluminum blank weighing up to 120 pounds before machining. Specialized forging equipment capable of applying 10,000 metric tons of pressure improves grain structure and reduces porosity, resulting in a stronger foundation. This allows Apex engineers to remove unnecessary material while maintaining exceptional durability and performance.
True Motorsport Blanks
Unlike many manufacturers that rely on generic third-party forgings, Apex developed proprietary motorsport-specific blanks from the ground up. This provides complete control over wheel dimensions, spoke geometry, brake clearance, concavity, and structural integrity, allowing every SM-10RS to be optimized for real-world performance applications.
I-Beam Spoke Technology
The SM-10RS utilizes side-milled spokes that create an I-beam profile. Precision CNC machining removes excess material from both sides of each spoke, reducing weight without sacrificing strength. This process optimizes rigidity while minimizing rotational mass, improving responsiveness and overall vehicle dynamics.
A Stronger Lightweight Wheel
Rather than chasing weight reduction at the expense of durability, Apex optimized the SM-10RS by strategically reinforcing critical load-bearing areas after reducing unnecessary material. Engineers intentionally added material back into high-stress regions, creating a stronger inner lip and improved load capacity without compromising lightweight performance.
Weight Optimized Through FEA
Extensive Finite Element Analysis was used throughout development to determine where material was needed and where it could be removed. Greater Stiffness
Wheel stiffness plays a major role in handling precision and steering feedback. The SM-10RS delivers nearly 10 percent more stiffness than the VS-5RS while remaining nearly identical in weight, and approximately 25 percent more stiffness than Apex's first-generation forged wheels.

The SM-10RS undergoes independent validation by STL, an Ohio-based testing facility. Testing exceeds standard JWL requirements through increased test durations, greater impact heights, and elevated load capacities to help ensure the wheel performs under the most demanding conditions.

Apex's reinforced Sprint spec inner lip utilizes a unique channel profile engineered for improved impact resistance. Despite weighing less than many comparable flow-formed wheels, the SM-10RS features a stronger inner lip capable of withstanding potholes, curbing, and track abuse.
Massive Brake Clearance
Advanced barrel design and application-specific spoke profiles provide excellent brake clearance. Developed using 3D laser scans, the SM-10RS accommodates many factory and aftermarket brake systems while maintaining ideal structural characteristics.

Redesigned forging architecture allows Apex to create aggressive concave profiles without sacrificing brake clearance. Detailed brake system scans enable each profile to be optimized for specific applications, delivering both appearance and performance.
Paintless Knurled Bead Seats
Hard acceleration and braking can cause tire movement along the bead seat. Paintless knurled bead seats maintain maximum effectiveness over time and help reduce unwanted tire movement during aggressive driving conditions.
Built for Impact Sockets
The SM-10RS accommodates oversized race lugs and impact sockets, making wheel changes faster and eliminating the need for delicate tuner hardware.
Laser-Engraved Specifications
Wheel specifications are laser engraved directly onto the barrel, making size and fitment information easy to identify throughout the life of the wheel.
Hub-Centric Design
