The Vortech Standard 8:1 FMU Recalibration Kit (PN 6Z170-020) is designed to change the fuel pressure rise rate of an existing Vortech Standard Fuel Management Unit (FMU) to an 8:1 ratio. This calibration is ideal for EFI supercharged applications that require less aggressive fuel pressure gain than a 12:1 FMU while still maintaining safe air-to-fuel ratios under boost.
This kit provides a precise, cost-effective alternative to replacing the entire FMU, allowing tuners to tailor fuel pressure behavior to injector size, boost level, and overall engine combination.
What the 8:1 Calibration Is Used For
The 8:1 FMU calibration is commonly used in Vortech supercharged EFI applications equipped with moderately upgraded injectors. It offers a balanced fuel pressure increase that improves control and drivability while still delivering sufficient enrichment under boost.
According to Vortech guidelines, the 8:1 calibration is typically paired with 24 lb/hr injectors on GT/LX-style applications. Higher ratios are better suited for stock injectors, while lower ratios are reserved for larger injector, higher-output builds.
