6:1 Rising-Rate FMU for High-Output EFI Vortech Systems
The Vortech Standard Fuel Management Unit (FMU) (PN 6Z110-142) is a precision secondary fuel pressure regulator engineered for multi-point electronic fuel injected (EFI) engines running Vortech supercharger systems. This 6:1 rising-rate FMU installs inline with the factory fuel pressure regulator on the return line and increases fuel pressure in direct proportion to boost pressure to help maintain safe air-to-fuel ratios under boost.
Correct operation assumes the fuel pump being used is capable of supplying the pressure and flow required as boost rises. Like all Vortech FMUs, this unit is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in a durable blue anodized coating for long-term reliability and corrosion resistance.
How the 6:1 FMU Calibration Is Used
The 6:1 FMU calibration is intended for high-output custom EFI applications where larger-than-stock fuel injectors are employed. This lower rise-rate compared to 10:1 or 12:1 units helps avoid excessive fuel pressure while still providing sufficient enrichment under boost.
As noted by Vortech, the 6:1 FMU is commonly used on Mustang applications with 30 lb/hr or 36 lb/hr injectors. Higher ratios (12:1, 10:1, 8:1, and 7:1) are typically paired with stock or mildly upgraded injectors, while lower ratios such as 4:1 and 3:1 are designed for even larger injector combinations.
