The Vortech Standard Fuel Management Unit (FMU) (PN 6Z110-136) is a precision-engineered secondary fuel pressure regulator designed specifically for multi-point electronic fuel injected (EFI) engines running Vortech supercharger systems. This 7:1 rising-rate FMU installs inline with the factory fuel pressure regulator on the return line, increasing fuel pressure in direct proportion to boost pressure to maintain safe air-to-fuel ratios under load.
This solution assumes the fuel pump in use is capable of supplying the required pressure and flow to match boost demand. Like all Vortech FMUs, this unit is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in a durable blue anodized coating for long-term corrosion resistance and reliability.
How the 7:1 FMU Calibration Works
The 7:1 FMU calibration is intended for Vortech supercharged applications that require less aggressive fuel pressure increases than the standard 12:1 unit. This typically applies to combinations using larger-than-stock fuel injectors, where excessive fuel pressure is neither necessary nor desirable.
In contrast, higher-ratio FMUs such as 12:1, 10:1, or 8:1 are more appropriate for stock or near-stock injector setups, while lower ratios (6:1, 4:1, and 3:1) are reserved for high-output builds using significantly larger injectors.
