Overview
PPE's CNC-Ported Cast Iron Cylinder Head is engineered for 2004.5-2010 GM 6.6L Duramax LLY, LBZ, and LMM engines, offering a major upgrade in airflow, durability, and long-term reliability. Built from specially alloyed gray cast iron, this head eliminates the common failures associated with factory aluminum heads, including blown gaskets, cracking, and heat-related distortion.
5-Axis CNC-Ported for Maximum Airflow
Each intake and exhaust port is precision-machined on a 5-axis CNC to deliver smooth, consistent, and unrestricted airflow. This porting process improves throttle response, reduces turbo lag, and supports increased horsepower and torque without compromising structural integrity.
Superior Heat Control & Structural Strength
Because the cast iron head expands at the same rate as the OEM iron block, it prevents the head-gasket scrubbing that often leads to gasket failure. The material also provides exceptional fatigue strength, creep resistance, and thermal stability - ideal for towing, performance builds, or high-heat environments.
Upgraded Valve Train Components
Each head arrives fully assembled with premium components, including nitridated valves, Stellite-reinforced exhaust valves, upgraded springs, and case-hardened chromoly retainers. These enhancements improve high-RPM stability and long-term durability.
Optimized Efficiency & Reduced Noise
The dense cast-iron construction reduces engine clatter and offers better thermal efficiency than aluminum heads. CNC machining maintains proper wall thickness while improving airflow dynamics, ensuring consistent performance across all cylinders.

Important Notes
- LLY engines require LBZ/LMM glow plugs when using this head
- For extreme-performance applications generating excessive heat, PPE recommends replacing the exhaust valve seats with oversized (+0.006" to +0.008") 34mm seats for increased interference and durability
