Overview
PPE's Cast Iron Cylinder Head is a major durability upgrade for 2004.5-2010 GM 6.6L Duramax LLY, LBZ, and LMM engines. Built from specially alloyed gray cast iron, this head is engineered to eliminate the common failures seen with factory aluminum heads, including blown head gaskets, cracking, and heat-related distortion.
Strength, Heat Control & Long-Term Reliability
Because the cast iron head expands at the same rate as the OEM iron block, it prevents the head-gasket scrubbing that often leads to gasket failure. The material also offers superior heat resistance and fatigue strength, making it ideal for towing, performance use, or high-temperature applications.
Upgraded Valve Train Components
Each head comes fully assembled with premium valve train components. This includes nitridated intake and exhaust valves, Stellite-reinforced exhaust valves, upgraded springs, and case-hardened chromoly retainers. These enhancements improve responsiveness at higher RPM and increase overall durability.
Reduced Noise & Improved Efficiency
The dense cast-iron structure helps reduce engine clatter while offering better thermal efficiency than aluminum heads. Alloy valve seats further improve wear resistance and sealing performance.
