Halltech Systems TRIC Ram Air Induction System (TRIC) - 2015-2019 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 / 2017-2019 Grand Sport

Feed a high volume of cold, dense outside air directly into the F-panel cavity of your C7 Corvette with the Halltech Systems TRIC Ram Air Induction System. Designed exclusively for the 2015-2019 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 and 2017-2019 Grand Sport, the TRIC redirects incoming air into the airbox area instead of relying only on engine vacuum to draw air from beneath the front end.

Halltech developed the TRIC as a serious performance upgrade for owners who understand its specialized purpose and operating restrictions. Preliminary Halltech track testing on a stock C7 Z06 equipped with a Stinger-RZ intake recorded 11.4 PSI of boost at 88 mph in second gear and 12.1 PSI at 124 mph. During testing, IAT1 generally remained in parity with ambient temperature, IAT2 measured approximately 15 degrees above ambient, and Halltech reported very little knock retard at up to 12.1 PSI and 125 mph.

Important: Do not operate a vehicle equipped with the TRIC system in rain, and do not take the vehicle through a car wash. The forward-facing ram-air duct can introduce water into the induction system. Halltech advises owners who regularly drive in rainy conditions to pass on this modification.

Features

  • Channels a large volume of cold outside air directly into the C7 F-panel cavity
  • Designed specifically for C7 Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport models
  • Supports increased airflow to the airbox at vehicle speed
  • Halltech testing recorded 11.4 PSI of boost at 88 mph on a stock C7 Z06 with a Stinger-RZ intake
  • Halltech testing recorded 12.1 PSI of boost at 124 mph on the same Z06 test vehicle
  • IAT1 remained near ambient temperature during most Halltech testing
  • IAT2 measured approximately 15 degrees above ambient during testing
  • Halltech reported very little knock retard at up to 12.1 PSI and 125 mph
  • Can be installed while retaining some airflow to the right-front rotor duct
  • Right-front rotor duct may be blocked for high-boost applications according to Halltech

Halltech Test Information

Halltech conducted its published testing on a stock C7 Z06 running 93-octane pump gasoline and a Stinger-RZ cold air intake that had accumulated approximately 7,000 miles. The reported boost and intake-air-temperature figures apply to that specific Z06 test configuration. The Grand Sport uses the naturally aspirated LT1 engine, so the published supercharger boost figures do not apply to Grand Sport applications.

Halltech attributes part of the tested performance to the high-flow filter and Stinger-RZ intake already installed on the test vehicle. The manufacturer has separately reported that its Stinger-RZ intake can produce substantial rear-wheel horsepower gains, so the published results should not be interpreted as gains produced by the TRIC system alone.

Critical Rain and Water Warning

Do not use the Halltech TRIC system during rain, and do not take the vehicle through a car wash. Ram-air systems use a forward-facing opening that can collect and direct water toward the induction system. This product is not recommended for vehicles that must regularly be driven in wet conditions.

Brake-Cooling and Road-Racing Warning

The TRIC draws air from the area used by the factory right-front rotor cooling duct. Installation requires drilling several holes and allows some airflow to continue toward the rotor while diverting a substantial portion into the airbox area. Halltech has not completed road-course testing to determine how this diversion affects right-front rotor cooling.

Because the effect on brake cooling has not been established, Halltech advises road-racing customers to consider passing on this modification. For high-boost applications, Halltech recommends keeping the rotor duct blocked, but doing so eliminates airflow through that brake-cooling path.

FAQs

Can I drive my Corvette in the rain with the Halltech TRIC installed?

No. Halltech specifically warns against using the TRIC system in rain or taking the vehicle through a car wash because the forward-facing duct can introduce water into the induction system. This product is best suited to dedicated dry-weather and performance-oriented vehicles.

Does the Halltech TRIC affect right-front brake cooling?

The TRIC diverts air from the factory right-front rotor cooling path into the F-panel and airbox area. Installation can retain some rotor airflow, but Halltech has not tested the system in road racing to determine the effect on brake cooling. Drivers who participate in road-course events should consider this limitation before purchasing.
