Previously offered under part number DSS FDSH52-C, the latest 610299 design introduces a direct-fit rear CV configuration that eliminates the separate rear adapter plate. A precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange in a similar manner to the factory driveshaft, reducing unnecessary weight while improving power-holding capability and drivetrain response.
New Direct-Fit Rear CV Design
The Driveshaft Shop developed this driveshaft around a direct-fit rear CV design that eliminates the adapter plate previously required at the rear differential. Instead, the precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange, similar to the factory configuration.
Eliminating the rear adapter plate reduces unnecessary rotating weight while creating a more direct connection between the driveshaft and rear differential. The result is a cleaner installation engineered for improved response and increased power-holding capability.
3.25" Carbon Fiber Construction
The 3.25" carbon fiber shaft provides a lightweight, performance-focused alternative to the factory driveshaft. Reducing rotating mass within the drivetrain can help improve responsiveness while the carbon fiber construction provides the strength required for high-horsepower Mustang applications.
For modified GT and Dark Horse builds, the one-piece carbon fiber design provides a substantial drivetrain upgrade without relying on the soft rubber-mounted characteristics of the factory shaft.
Designed for 1,000+ Horsepower
The Driveshaft Shop designed this driveshaft to handle more than 1,000 horsepower, making it suitable for Mustangs ranging from bolt-on street cars to substantially modified forced-induction combinations.
Whether the vehicle is equipped with a supercharger, turbocharger, or other major engine modifications, the 610299 is engineered to provide the power-holding capability needed to transfer high output through the 10-speed automatic drivetrain.
Solid Connections for Improved Drivetrain Response
The factory Mustang driveshaft uses soft rubber-mounted components that prioritize isolation. The Driveshaft Shop 1-piece driveshaft replaces that arrangement with solid connections designed to provide more immediate drivetrain response and maintain proper alignment under demanding conditions.
By creating a more direct connection through the driveline, the DSS carbon fiber driveshaft is designed to get power to the ground with less of the compliant feel associated with the factory shaft.
Chromoly CV Internals
The new direct-fit CV uses Chromoly internal components for the strength required in high-output applications. This upgraded CV assembly is a key component of the driveshaft's ability to handle substantially more power than a stock-oriented driveline configuration.
Spicer 1350 U-Joint
The carbon fiber driveshaft combines the Chromoly-internal CV with a Spicer 1350 U-joint. This heavy-duty combination provides the robust mechanical connections needed for performance applications while maintaining the alignment required by the one-piece driveshaft design.
Direct Fit at the Rear Differential
The precision-ground rear CV is designed to fit inside the Mustang's pinion flange like the factory driveshaft. This eliminates the separate rear adapter plate and allows the Driveshaft Shop to reduce weight while increasing the capability of the driveline connection.
The direct-fit arrangement also creates a more streamlined driveline package for high-performance street, drag, and other demanding Mustang applications.
Required Rear Subframe / Cradle Lock-Out Kit
WARNING: A rear subframe/cradle lock-out kit MUST be installed on the vehicle BEFORE installing this Driveshaft Shop 1-piece driveshaft.
The rear cradle must be properly reinforced and its movement limited before the driveshaft is installed. Any damage to the driveshaft, or subsequent damage caused by failing to properly reinforce the rear cradle and limit its movement, will void any and all warranty provided by The Driveshaft Shop.
Emergency Brake Cable Clearance
IMPORTANT: Emergency brake cable bracket clearance must be checked during installation. Clearance adjustment or relocation of the emergency brake cable bracket may be necessary.
Failure to verify proper clearance can result in contact with and damage to the driveshaft. Damage resulting from failure to check or provide the required clearance may void the driveshaft warranty.
