Designed to handle more than 1,000 horsepower, this high-performance driveshaft replaces the factory soft rubber-mounted shaft with a rigid, responsive 1-piece design engineered to deliver power to the ground.
Previously offered under part number FDSH52-A, the latest DSS 610296 features a direct-fit rear CV that eliminates the separate adapter plate traditionally used at the rear differential. The precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange similar to the factory shaft, reducing unnecessary adapter weight while improving power-holding capability and drivetrain response.

New Direct-Fit Rear CV Design
The Driveshaft Shop developed the 610296 with a direct-fit rear CV that eliminates the need for a separate adapter plate at the rear differential. Instead, the precision-ground CV fits directly inside the pinion flange in a similar manner to the factory driveshaft.
Removing the adapter plate eliminates unnecessary weight from the connection while creating a more direct driveline arrangement. DSS designed this configuration to increase power-holding capability and improve drivetrain response.
3.5" Aluminum 1-Piece Construction
The 3.5" aluminum shaft replaces the factory driveshaft with a performance-focused 1-piece configuration. Its solid connections eliminate the soft rubber-mounted characteristics of the factory shaft, providing a more direct connection through the driveline.
For modified Mustangs, this design provides the strength and responsiveness required to efficiently transfer substantially increased engine output through the 10-speed automatic drivetrain.
Designed for 1,000+ Horsepower
The Driveshaft Shop designed the 610296 to handle more than 1,000 horsepower. This substantial power capacity makes the driveshaft suitable for everything from bolt-on combinations to heavily modified forced-induction Mustang builds.
Supercharged, turbocharged, and other extreme engine combinations can place significantly greater loads on the driveline than the factory configuration. The DSS aluminum 1-piece driveshaft is engineered with the connections and components required to support these demanding applications.
Improved Drivetrain Response
The factory Mustang driveshaft uses soft rubber-mounted components designed in part around factory-level isolation and comfort. The DSS 1-piece driveshaft replaces that configuration with solid connections designed to create a more responsive drivetrain.
The direct-fit CV, rigid 1-piece aluminum shaft, and heavy-duty U-joint configuration work together to provide a more immediate mechanical connection between the transmission and rear differential.
Chromoly CV Internals
The direct-fit rear CV utilizes Chromoly internal components for the strength required in high-output applications. This heavy-duty construction contributes to the driveshaft's ability to reliably transfer substantially increased power through the Mustang drivetrain.
Spicer 1350 U-Joint
DSS combines the Chromoly-internal CV with a Spicer 1350 U-joint. This proven heavy-duty U-joint configuration provides the robust mechanical connection needed for high-horsepower applications while maintaining proper drivetrain alignment.
Precision Alignment
In addition to eliminating the rear adapter plate, the direct-fit design is engineered around proper alignment of the driveshaft assembly. The precision-ground rear CV fits directly into the pinion flange, creating a clean and solid connection similar in layout to the factory driveshaft.

Required Rear Subframe / Cradle Lock-Out Kit
WARNING: A rear subframe/cradle lock-out kit MUST be installed on the vehicle BEFORE installing the Driveshaft Shop 1-piece driveshaft.
The rear cradle must be properly reinforced and its movement limited before driveshaft installation. Any damage to the driveshaft, or any subsequent damage caused by failing to properly reinforce the rear cradle and limit movement, will void any and all warranty provided by The Driveshaft Shop.
This is a mandatory installation requirement and should not be treated as an optional supporting modification.
Emergency Brake Cable Clearance
IMPORTANT: Emergency brake cable bracket clearance must be checked during installation. Clearance adjustment or relocation of the emergency brake cable bracket may be necessary depending on the vehicle.
Failure to verify adequate clearance can allow the emergency brake cable bracket to contact and damage the driveshaft. Damage caused by failure to check or provide the necessary clearance may void the driveshaft warranty.
