CorteX Double A-Arm SLA Front Suspension System with Radial X Spindles - Track (FSS-40-1000X) - 2005-2014 Ford Mustang
Take your S197 Mustang's front suspension to an entirely different level with the CorteX Racing Double A-Arm SLA Front Suspension System. Designed for serious track and competition applications, this system replaces the factory strut-based suspension with a short-long arm (SLA), or double-wishbone, configuration engineered to deliver superior camber control, roll center stability, tire contact, and predictable handling at the limit.
The Track version features CorteX Radial X spindles and a comprehensive collection of supporting components engineered to work together as a complete front suspension system. For Mustang owners focused on maximizing cornering performance and reducing lap times, this SLA conversion provides suspension geometry that simply cannot be achieved with a conventional strut arrangement.
Due to the custom nature of these kits, we encourage you to call to order. We will work with you to determine the proper shocks, brake system, and steering rack system for your setup.

Track-Focused SLA Suspension Geometry
A properly engineered SLA suspension uses separate upper and lower control arms to precisely control wheel movement throughout suspension travel. Compared to the factory Mustang strut arrangement, this configuration provides significantly greater control over camber gain and roll center movement.
Maintaining more favorable camber geometry helps keep additional tire surface in contact with the pavement during cornering. The result is improved mechanical grip, reduced understeer, and more consistent handling as suspension loads increase.
Potential for Lower Lap Times
CorteX reports back-to-back testing showing lap time reductions of approximately 2 to 4 seconds when compared using the same tires, depending on the length and characteristics of the track. The improved performance comes from optimizing suspension geometry and allowing the tires to work more effectively throughout braking, turn-in, and mid-corner loading.
More Stable Roll Center
The CorteX SLA design provides significantly greater roll center stability both vertically and laterally. It is also less sensitive to changes in ride height. For example, CorteX states that lowering the chassis one inch results in approximately a one-inch roll center change, helping maintain predictable geometry when adjusting vehicle setup.
Radial X Spindles
The included CorteX Radial X spindles provide a stiff, reliable, and highly adjustable spindle and hub platform designed around the SLA suspension geometry. Integrated wheel speed sensor provisions retain functionality required for modern vehicle systems while supporting the demands of serious track use.
CorteX Design Advantages
- Suspension components primarily operate in tension and compression rather than relying on bending loads
- Strong and rigid K-member, control arms, and shock mounting structure
- Damper and spring loads are directed into the OEM shock tower load-bearing points
- Helps minimize unwanted structural deflection under high suspension loads
- Retains compatibility with the Mustang's heavy-duty OEM steering rack
- Supports electronic power assist steering systems
- Wide range of performance damper options available
- Wide range of brake system configurations available
- Adjustable roll center allows additional chassis tuning
- Designed for straightforward installation compared with more extensive custom SLA conversions

Steering Rack Compatibility
This system is specifically engineered around the Mustang OEM-style steering rack rather than requiring conversion to an older steering system.
- Compatible with OEM hydraulic steering rack applications
- Compatible with OEM EPAS steering rack applications
- EPAS rack retrofit option available for 2005-2010 Mustangs
- Not designed for Mustang II steering racks
- Not designed for Fox Body steering racks
- Not designed for SN95 steering racks
Damper & Brake Options
The SLA layout allows the use of double-eyelet coilover dampers, providing access to a broad selection of high-performance damper configurations. CorteX notes that comparable double-eyelet dampers can also be significantly less expensive than equivalent performance struts.
A wide range of brake configurations can be incorporated into the system, allowing the suspension package to be tailored around the intended level of track or competition use.
