CorteX Xtreme-Grip Watts Link System, Street (CWL-40-2000S) - 2005-2014 Ford Mustang

Improve rear axle control and handling consistency on your 2005-2014 Ford Mustang with the CorteX Racing Xtreme-Grip Street Watts Link System. Designed to replace the factory-style panhard bar arrangement on solid rear axle Mustangs, this system keeps the rear axle more consistently centered as the suspension moves through its travel and helps the car behave more symmetrically in left and right-hand corners.

The Street version uses polyurethane bushings at the chassis pivot connection to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness while retaining the performance advantages of the Watts link design. With four available center pivot positions, the rear roll center can be adjusted to fine-tune rear roll stiffness and help balance front-to-rear grip for the driver's preferred handling characteristics.

Features

  • Designed for 2005-2014 Ford Mustang solid rear axle applications
  • Replaces the factory-style panhard bar setup
  • Helps keep the rear axle centered throughout suspension travel
  • Provides more symmetrical handling in left and right-hand corners
  • Four adjustable center pivot positions
  • Allows rear roll center and roll stiffness adjustment
  • Helps fine-tune front-to-rear chassis balance
  • Street version uses polyurethane chassis pivot bushings to reduce NVH
  • Lightweight and durable construction
  • Fast rear roll center adjustment
  • Designed to work especially well with CorteX coilover systems
  • Can be paired with the optional CorteX adjustable front anti-roll bar, part number ARB-40-1000-F

Why Upgrade to a Watts Link?

A panhard bar controls side-to-side axle movement but also moves the axle through an arc as the suspension compresses and rebounds. This means the rear axle can shift laterally during suspension travel. A Watts linkage more closely approximates straight vertical axle movement by using a central pivot point, helping maintain more consistent rear axle position and suspension behavior.

The result is improved chassis balance and more predictable handling, especially when transitioning between left and right-hand corners.

Adjustable Rear Roll Center

The CorteX system provides four possible center pivot positions. Raising or lowering the pivot relative to the vehicle's center of gravity changes the effective rear roll center and suspension roll stiffness. This gives the driver another tuning tool for balancing front and rear grip and refining the Mustang's handling characteristics.

Street Configuration

The CWL-40-2000S Street system uses polyurethane bushings at the chassis pivot connection to minimize noise, vibration, and harshness. This makes it a better fit for street-driven performance Mustangs that still need precise rear axle control.

CorteX also offers a Track version, part number CWL-40-2000, which uses spherical bearings at all pivot points to further reduce friction and deflection.

Gen 2 Differential Cover

  • Revised low-pressure diecast design for improved casting strength
  • Integrates the Watts link pivot mount
  • Includes provision for a differential cooler
  • Includes provision for a differential temperature sensor
  • Baffled breather port allows connection of an optional breather or overflow tank
  • Revised internal fluid dynamics improve ring-and-pinion and bearing lubrication
  • Carrier load bolts eliminated to reduce unnecessary leak points
  • Threaded mounting holes are pre-machined for the CorteX differential breather tank
  • Includes a 2013-2014 GT500-style temperature sensor port

Additional Notes

  • This listing is for the Street version, part number CWL-40-2000S.
  • The Street system uses polyurethane bushings at the chassis pivot connection to help reduce NVH.
  • The Track version, CWL-40-2000, uses spherical bearings at all pivot points.
  • Best results can be achieved when paired with complementary suspension components such as CorteX coilovers and an adjustable front anti-roll bar.
  • Verify axle, differential, and suspension configuration before ordering.
