CorteX Xtreme-Grip Torque Arm System (CTA-40-1000) - 2005-2014 Ford Mustang

Put more power to the ground and improve braking stability with the CorteX Racing Xtreme-Grip Torque Arm System for the 2005-2014 Ford Mustang. Designed for performance street, track, and competition applications, this system changes the rear suspension's anti-squat and anti-lift geometry to improve acceleration traction without sacrificing cornering performance.

The CorteX Torque Arm replaces the factory upper third link and allows significantly more anti-squat to be incorporated into the rear suspension while maintaining proper rear axle roll steer. This is especially beneficial for lowered and high-horsepower Mustangs where maximizing rear tire grip under acceleration is critical.

Features

  • Improves rear tire traction during acceleration
  • Provides exceptional corner-exit and straight-line grip
  • Changes rear suspension anti-squat and anti-lift geometry
  • Allows increased anti-squat without compromising rear axle roll steer
  • Loads the rear tires more evenly than a traditional 3-link configuration
  • Helps reduce front-end dive during hard braking
  • Improves braking stability and driver confidence
  • Especially beneficial for lowered Mustangs
  • Ideal for high-horsepower street, track, and competition applications
  • Replaces the factory upper third link
  • Compatible with the factory 2-piece driveshaft
  • Compatible with nearly any aftermarket 1-piece driveshaft
  • Designed for Mustangs equipped with an 8.8-inch rear end

Increase Rear Traction

One of the primary advantages of the CorteX Torque Arm is its ability to increase anti-squat while maintaining favorable rear suspension geometry. Higher anti-squat allows weight to be transferred to the rear tires more quickly during acceleration instead of waiting for the rear suspension to compress before the tires become fully loaded.

This is particularly valuable on powerful Mustangs with substantial front weight bias. By loading the rear tires sooner and more evenly, the Torque Arm helps maximize available traction when accelerating out of a corner or applying significant power in a straight line.

Ideal for Lowered Mustangs

Lowering a Mustang from its factory ride height changes the rear suspension geometry and can reduce available grip under acceleration. Lower control arm relocation can help correct some of these changes, but the CorteX Torque Arm provides another level of geometry correction by allowing substantially more anti-squat than a conventional 3-link or 4-link configuration while retaining proper rear axle roll steer.

Improved Braking Stability

The benefits of the Torque Arm extend beyond acceleration. By applying rear axle rotational loads closer to the vehicle's center of gravity, the system changes the anti-lift characteristics of the rear suspension and helps reduce excessive front-end dive under braking.

Rather than immediately transferring as much load onto the front suspension, the Torque Arm encourages more controlled chassis movement during hard braking. This can provide a more stable and confidence-inspiring feel when entering corners at speed.

Performance Without Compromising Cornering

The factory Ford 3-link suspension can be modified to produce additional anti-squat, but excessive changes can negatively affect rear roll steer and cornering behavior. The CorteX Torque Arm is designed to provide high anti-squat levels while preserving the rear suspension geometry required for predictable handling.

This combination makes the system effective for Mustangs that need strong acceleration traction while remaining capable through demanding corners.

Driveshaft Compatibility

  • Compatible with the OEM 2-piece driveshaft
  • Compatible with nearly any aftermarket 1-piece driveshaft

Important Installation Notes

  • Requires an 8.8-inch rear end.
  • The Torque Arm eliminates the factory upper third link.
  • If installing the Torque Arm without the CorteX Xtreme-Grip Watts Link System, a Super Low Profile TA Performance rear-end differential cover is also required.
  • Verify rear-end, differential cover, driveshaft, and suspension configuration before ordering.
