The TRZ Motorsports GM Manual Rack and Pinion Conversion Kit for TRZ 1.5" or 2" drop spindles transforms steering performance on 1982 - 2002 Chevy S-10 and Blazer 2WD platforms. This system replaces the heavy factory steering box with a vehicle-specific, narrowed Pinto-style manual rack, delivering sharper steering response, reduced weight, and dramatically improved control - ideal for drag racing, mini-truck builds, and aggressive street applications.
Because proper steering geometry is critical, this system is not bolt-in. Cutting, welding, and fabrication are required to position the rack correctly for optimal Ackermann and bump-steer correction. TRZ strongly recommends installation by a professional chassis shop.
The kit includes an adjustable bump-steer / tie-rod adjuster assembly, rack clamp and mount plate, a 3/4" chrome-moly steering shaft with support brace, and three chrome-moly U-joints (one 9/16" - 26 spline to 3/4" joint plus two 3/4" × 3/4" smooth joints). Billet aluminum steering arms are included where applicable.
Spindle Notes
Choose your spindle configuration before ordering:
- Factory / Non-TRZ Drop Spindles: Brands like Summit, Belltech, etc., use factory geometry and require the factory-spindle version of this kit.
- TRZ Drop Spindles (1.5" or 2"): Require a different tie-rod adjuster length for proper bump-steer tuning and toe correction. This S10-3T kit includes the TRZ-specific adjusters.
