Manual Rack & Pinion Conversion for Factory Spindle S-10 / Blazer (2WD)
The TRZ Motorsports GM Manual Rack and Pinion Conversion Kit is built to enhance steering precision and reduce front-end weight on 1982 - 2002 Chevy S-10 and Blazer 2WD trucks equipped with factory or factory-style aftermarket spindles. This conversion replaces the heavy, vague OEM steering box and linkage with a custom-narrowed Pinto-style manual rack designed specifically for the S10 platform, delivering improved response, stability, and geometry control - ideal for drag racing and lightweight street builds.
This kit is not a bolt-in installation. Professional chassis work is recommended since cutting, welding, and fabrication are required to properly mount the rack and dial in correct bump-steer and toe settings.
Included components include an adjustable bump-steer / tie-rod adjuster kit, rack clamp and mounting plate, a 3/4" chrome-moly steering shaft with supporting brace, and three chrome-moly U-joints (one 9/16" - 26 spline to 3/4" joint plus two 3/4" × 3/4" smooth joints). Billet aluminum steering arms are included where applicable for compatible GM platforms.
Spindle Notes
Choose your spindle type carefully:
- Factory / Non-TRZ Drop Spindles: Includes Summit, Belltech, and other aftermarket spindles that retain OE geometry.
- TRZ Drop Spindles: Require a different tie-rod adjuster length to achieve correct bump-steer and toe alignment. This kit (S10-3) is the version for factory-style spindles.
