Rack & Pinion Conversion for TRZ Drop Spindles (67 - 69 Camaro/Firebird & 68 - 74 Nova)
The TRZ Motorsports GM Manual Rack and Pinion Conversion Kit for TRZ 1.5" or 2" drop spindles is engineered to deliver precise, lightweight steering performance for 1967 - 1969 Camaro and Firebird and 1968 - 1974 Nova applications. This system replaces the bulky OEM steering components with a properly narrowed Pinto-style manual rack tuned specifically for these classic F-Body and X-Body platforms.
These kits are not bolt-in. Cutting, welding, and fabrication work are required for proper geometry and safe installation. TRZ strongly recommends chassis-shop installation to ensure the rack sits at the correct height and angle.
Included in the kit are an adjustable bump-steer / tie-rod adjuster kit, rack clamp and mounting plate, a 3/4" chrome-moly steering shaft with shaft brace, and three chrome-moly U-joints (one 9/16" - 26 spline to 3/4" plus two 3/4" 3/4" smooth joints). Billet aluminum steering arms are included where applicable for 1967 - 69 Camaro/Firebird, 1968 - 74 Nova, and 1964 - 72 A-Body platforms.
Spindle Notes
Select your spindle style carefully:
- Factory / Non-TRZ Drop Spindles: Brands like Summit, Belltech, etc., are considered factory-style and use the factory spindle kit instead of this one.
- TRZ Drop Spindles (1.5" or 2"): Require a different tie-rod adjuster length to correctly set toe and eliminate bump-steer. This kit (316-3T) is the correct version for TRZ drop spindles.
