Finally a no-compromises short throw shifter that can not only handle the toughest rigors of competition racing, but also posses excellent street manners for your daily driver. Starting with a clean sheet, the RACE SPEC shifter from MGW now solid mounts to the transmission via billet strut arms and features a solid linkage rod connecting the shifter to the transmission giving a true "top loader" feel in every shift!

 

Application: Ford 2024-2025 Mustang 5.0L Coyote GT or Ecoboost Turbo equipped with 6-Speed MT-82 transmission. 

 

Updated Design: - we've listened and heard your feedback on our MT-82's, and so we've made several design changes to satisfy the most performance-hungry enthusiast. The new design is more compact and will fit inside the car's oval cutout, fully assembled; no more bashing your knuckles trying to get the the unit installed. This shaves at least 30 minutes off the install time and is great whether you're doing it at home or having it done at a performance shop. The shifter may be more compact, but it's still got every bit of performance you've come to expect from our high-quality race spec shifters!

 

Note: Low Profile handles do not fit the stock ball. Please select a gripper or classic ball. The standard handle requires the OEM knob adapter in order to use the stock shifter ball.

 

X-SPEC Shifter

We've gotten many requests to build a shifter with an even MORE drastic throw reduction, and we've listened! If you need the shortest throw possible, then choose the X-SPEC model, with up to a 25% reduction in shift length possible over the stock shifter. We've also added a Low Profile handle option, which can be used with either the Standard or X-SPEC model shifter for even greater throw reduction.

If you are ordering a Flatstick, X-Spec is the only shifter option. The gripper ball for the Flatstick has a stainless steel insert, so the stem option is not needed. Please select your color and logo only.

Deluxe Jam Nut Is an upgrade you can add to help when mounting the Classic Ball to the shifter.  It is used when aligning the shift ball and the wrench allows you to tignten the Deluxe Jam Nut against the shift ball to secure it.  For further explanation please see the video below with the proper installation of the Classic Style Shift Ball and Jam nut.

    MGW SHIFTER

    One word 'AWESOME'. Just stop looking and order it! You will not regret your purchase!. Very close shifting pattern compared to the OEM POS!
    I have found myself going from 2nd to 5th and from 5th to 2nd! a few times, but this due to me not being used to the close shift pattern compared to the oem shifter.
    With the OEM shifter I would get 3rd gear lockout when going through the gears quickly at higher RPM (Racing). Once the MGW shifter was installed; that issue has never raised it ugly head again!
    The shifter will not disappoint and I was able to install it in an afternoon.

    MGW RACE SPEC SHORT THROW SHIFTER

    I installed the MGW shifter on a Sunday afternoon. I watched the installation video on the MGW website which I highly recommend you do prior to attempting the install. I did watch some YouTube videos on installing the shifter, but noticed several of them left out some steps based on the MGW instructional video.
    Once installed the test drive proved the shift has a way shorter shift pattern and in my opinion it has a tighter pattern.
    I found myself once downshifting into 2nd from 5th gear! Just goes to show how much difference there is over the stock unit.
    Shifting from 2nd to 3rd at higher RPM’s with the stock shifter at time would lockout of 3rd. Now with this MGW shifter it goes directly into 3rd gear! No more ‘lockout’!
    I went with the flat stick short throw race spec shifter and topped it off with MGW’s white shift ball. I highly recommend this shifter for your MT-82 transmission; you will not regret it!

    The best shifter hands down

    This is the only shifter I’ve ever used in my 6 mustangs and nothing changed when I got my 2024 this was one of my first mods.
