The Vortech Superchargers High Output Complete System (PN 4FA218-078SQ) is a fully calibrated, bolt-on centrifugal supercharger system engineered specifically for the 1986-1993 Ford Mustang 5.0L. This version features a high-visibility polished finish and combines Vortech's engine-oil-lubricated V-2 Si supercharger with an air-to-water charge cooler for consistent high-output performance and effective thermal control.
This is a complete street system, not a tuner kit, designed to deliver reliable power while maintaining drivability and emissions compliance when installed as intended.
V-2 Si Supercharger Technology
The V-2 Si centrifugal supercharger is Vortech's preferred unit for applications that experience sustained boost, such as extended street driving and circuit road racing. The "Si" designation represents Vortech's improved compressor design, developed in an SAE J1723-compliant supercharger test cell, delivering efficient airflow and strong mid- to high-RPM performance.
Unlike V-3 systems, the V-2 Si is engine oil lubricated and requires oil feed and drain connections. For demanding applications, a dedicated oil cooler and/or oil filter can be added.
Air-to-Water Charge Cooling Advantage
For Fox Body Mustang applications, Vortech utilizes an air-to-water charge cooler system to minimize pressure loss. Unlike air-to-air systems that route charge air through long tubing paths and large cooler cores, this design keeps the charge air path comparable to the non-cooled configuration - resulting in virtually no boost loss.
Charge cooling delivers cooler, denser air, increases power output, reduces the detonation threshold, and supports higher boost capability.
