The Vortech Superchargers High Output Complete System (PN 4FA218-070SQ) is a fully calibrated, bolt-on centrifugal supercharger package engineered specifically for the 19861993 Ford Mustang 5.0L. Finished in a durable satin coating, this system pairs Vortechs engine-oil-lubricated V-2 Si supercharger with an air-to-water charge cooler to deliver consistent high-output performance with excellent thermal control.
This is a complete systemnot a tuner kitdesigned for reliable street use while supporting higher boost and sustained load operation when installed as intended.
V-2 Si Supercharger Technology
The V-2 Si centrifugal supercharger is favored for applications that see sustained boost, such as extended high-RPM street driving and circuit road racing. The Si designation reflects Vortechs improved compressor technology developed in an SAE J1723-compliant test environment, delivering efficient airflow and strong mid-to-upper RPM performance.
Unlike V-3 systems, the V-2 Si is engine-oil-lubricated and requires oil feed and drain connections. For demanding use, a dedicated oil cooler and/or filter may be added for additional thermal control.
Air-to-Water Charge Cooling Advantage
For Fox Body Mustangs, Vortech utilizes an air-to-water charge cooler system to minimize pressure loss. Unlike air-to-air systems that route charge air through long tubing paths and large cooler cores, the charge air path on this application does not travel any further than the non-cooled versionresulting in virtually no boost loss.
Charge cooling provides cooler, denser air, increasing power output, improving detonation resistance, and allowing greater tuning flexibility at higher boost levels.
