V-2 Si Supercharger Technology

The V-2 Si centrifugal supercharger is an engine-oil-lubricated design favored for applications that see sustained boost, such as circuit road racing and extended high-load operation. The “Si” designation reflects Vortech’s improved compressor technology developed in an SAE J1723-compliant test environment, delivering high efficiency and consistent airflow across the operating range.

Unlike V-3 systems, the V-2 Si utilizes engine oil feed and drain lines. For extreme-duty applications, a dedicated oil cooler and/or filter can be added to further enhance thermal control and durability.

Air-to-Water Charge Cooling Advantage

For Fox Body Mustangs, Vortech employs an air-to-water charge cooler system to minimize pressure loss. Compared to air-to-air systems that route charge air through long tubing paths and large cooler cores, this design keeps the airflow path short—resulting in virtually no boost loss compared to non-cooled configurations.

Charge cooling produces cooler, denser air, increasing power output, reducing detonation risk, and allowing greater tuning flexibility at higher boost levels.
