Just Released the Updated Design for the 2015-2020 GT350 & 2021-2023 Mach 1

MGW short throw shifter for the new Shelby GT350 is a great upgrade and easily replaces the clunky stock shifter. The shorter throw allows for faster shifts between gears and more accurate gear selection. Great under full RPM load and helps prevent any type of lockout when shifting.

Application: Fits 2015-2020 Shelby GT350 & 2021 Mach 1 equipped with the TR3160 transmission. Will require use of OEM adapter to use stock knob, or you can get an aftermarket knob from MGW. Also works with MGW gripper shift knob.

Finally a no-compromises short throw shifter that can not only handle the toughest rigors of competition racing, but also posses excellent street manners for your daily driver. With twelve grade-8 bolts attaching the main shifter body to the rigid support arm this thing is nearly bomb proof. Like MGW's Gen 2 GT500 shifter, the TR-3160 unit retains the use of the factory body mount location for the rear support block. Also like the Gen 2, the rear support is merely there to keep the shifter from coming in contact with the driveshaft. MGW's patent pending design holds the shift linkage and transmission in perfect alignment at all times to deliver unmatched shifting precision.

New orders Expected to be ready late January/Early February

    MGW short throw

Posted by William hamilton on Oct 13th 2022

Ok, to start off i actually liked the feel of the factory shifter on my '18 Shelby gt-350. There was a recall on the shifter for the stupid plastic reverse lockout collar so i took the car in and thought they had fixed it so it wouldn't fail. They put the same parts that eventually would break back on the car and about 20 days ago... the collar broke again. Rather than replace it again with something else that would eventually fail again i decided to go with this shifter.

That being said, my background is in mechanical engineering. As soon as the parts showed up i was impressed at the build quality of everything. I installed the parts this week and everything feels really good. The best way i can describe it is that i makes shifts feel like the precision of operating a bolt on a bolt action rifle.

Also i will say that the team at Beefcake is amazing too. I'll be procuring any other performance parts for the car from them as well.

The one note i will say is the reverse lockout was pre-set and it was set right... but it wasn't torqued down well so i had to take the boots and everything off and reposition, lock-tite and torque the revers lockout stud as their instruction video showed.

Its possible that removing the center section of exhaust and the drive shaft would actually speed up the process.
If you had an incredibly low profile 1/2" socket/cordless ratchet setup it would be extremely helpful... there are a few bolt you can't get much more than 1/8th of a turn on with a wrench.

MGW short throw shifter for GT350

Posted by John on Jul 14th 2022

I had read many reviews about this shifter before deciding on it for my GT350. All I can say is Beefcake racing went out of their way to get it to me in time to be installed with other mods, and even on the first drive with it I have to say it is amazing !! Words like tight, precise, well built, accurate, don't do it justice !! The throws are very short, feel very solid, and it is far superior to the factory unit. The only complaint I'd read was the push down reverse lockout, and from the first time backing up with it this was not an issue at all - it was easy. A great shifter !!
